Important Things to Remember

About adoption

  • Adoption is a parenting plan; it is not "giving away" your baby.

  • You do have choices when making an adoption plan, and you do have control.

  • No one can make this decision but you.

About being pregnant

  • It is very important that you see a doctor right away. Both you and your baby need to be seen by a physician. If you don't have health insurance or access to a free clinic, contact us immediately and we can help you get to a doctor right away.

  • It may be difficult to tell people, but it is more difficult for no one to know. You need support right now. Find a friend, and someone you can trust, to talk to. If you can't think of anyone, call us and talk to a mentor, 1-888-686-0443.

  • Stay healthy. Eat a balanced diet, get plenty of rest, and try to stay tuned-in to what your body needs. Always ask questions, or see your doctor, when you have concerns.

About being a mother

  • You are already a mother. Pregnancy is parenting, and your baby needs you right now.Whether you are contemplating parenting or adoption, your baby needs love to grow.

  • Try to find a way to relate to the life inside of you. Keep a daily journal of your thoughts.Rub your belly as you fall asleep. Pay attention to the soft kicks.

  • Take time to relax and listen to some soft music. This will allow you some time to relieve stress and it will help sooth your baby.

Remember that whichever parenting plan you choose, you have chosen it because you can see it is the best way for you to provide for your baby.
