Our ProgramsNEW PROGRAM - DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO. We are looking for families for our new DRC Program. Children available: Boys and girls - infants to 15 years old at time of placement. Singles & married: Single men and women may adopt a child of the same sex. If married, couples must be married for five years and cannot have more than two children. Travel: One trip, of approximately two to three weeks, to pick up the child. Length of time: 2 to 4 months Referral times: Referral times are short now but it will lengthen as more families apply for infants. Domestic (Agency) Adoption occurs when a birthparent requests our assistance with an adoption plan. The birthparent(s) has the opportunity to be involved in the selection of the adoptive family. An adoption can be as open as the birthparent(s) and adoptive couple desire. Click here to see a list of the varying degrees of openness. A domestic adoption usually results in the adoption of an infant. This type of adoption can cost between $18,000 - $25,000. Embryo Adoption can be achieved through the Embryo Adoption Awareness Center. The Embryo Adoption Awareness Center is a comprehensive, neutral information source regarding embryo adoption. Their goal is to increase awareness throughout the United States regarding this exciting and unique adoption alternative. Independent Adoption (often referred to as Private Adoption) happens when the birthparent(s) and adoptive parents find each other through sources outside the agency. Adoption Services can provide the birthparent services, adoptive homestudy, guardianship, court reports, and post-placement services. This type of adoption can cost between $5,000 - $7,000 in agency fees. Independent and Interstate Adoption Independent Adoption (often referred to as Private Adoption) happens when the birthparent(s) and adoptive parents find each other through sources outside the agency. Adoption Services can provide the birthparent services in Wisconsin, adoptive homestudy, guardianship, court reports, and post-placement services. This type of adoption can cost between $4,000 - $7,000 in agency fees. Independent Interstate Adoption is the same as an independent adoption with the addition of interstate regulations, due to the birthparents and adoptive parents living in separate states. The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) is involved and the agency coordinates the needs of ICPC for each state in order to get the placement approved. This type of adoption can cost between $4,000 - $7,000 in agency fees. International Adoption International Adoption is facilitated through liaison agencies or as an independent international adoption. Adoption Services will provide the necessary homestudy and post placement services. The total cost of this kind of adoption can range between $20,000 - $45,000. We work with agencies that place from countries in Central and South America, Eastern Europe, India, Philippines, Thailand, China, and Korea, Africa, and many more. We currently have partnerships for international adoption with Children's Home Society and Family Services located in Minnesota and Carolina Adoption Services located in North Carolina. Relative Adoption occurs when you would like to adopt a child that is one of your relatives. The State of Wisconsin requires that the relationship with the child be a grandparent, great grandparent, step-parent, brother, sister, first cousin, nephew, niece, aunt, uncle, step-brother or sister, half-brother or sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, second cousin, step-uncle or aunt, any person of a preceding generation as denoted by the prefix grand, great, or great-great, and the spouse of any relative, even if in marriage is terminated by death or divorce. This type of adoption can cost $2,100 in agency fees. Step-Parent Adoption occurs when you would like to be the legal parent to your spouse's child. This requires relinquishment of the parental rights by the other biological parent, so the child is free for adoption. Adoption Services can provide the adoptive homestudy and court reports. This type of adoption is $750 for one child. Special Needs Adoption is the adoption of a child from the foster care system. The state of Wisconsin has a list of children that are waiting to be adopted. These children usually have special needs regarding mental or physical health, and require extra love, patience, and attention from their adoptive parents. Adoption Services can provide the adoptive homestudy, coordination with county services, court reports, and post placement services. This type of adoption can cost between $2,000 - $2,500. Fees normally are reimbursed by the state. |
