Becoming an Adoptive Family

Our Programs

  • Domestic (Agency) Adoption occurs when a birthparent requests our assistance with an adoption plan. The birthparent(s) has the opportunity to be involved in the selection of the adoptive home. An adoption can be as open as the birthparent(s) and adoptive couple desire. Click here to see a list of the varying degrees of openness. A domestic adoption usually results in the adoption of an infant. This type of adoption can cost anywhere from $12,000 - $15,000*. More
  • Independent Adoption (often referred to as Private Adoption) happens when the birthparent(s) and adoptive parents find each other through sources outside the agency. Adoption Services can provide the birthparent services, adoptive homestudy, guardianship, court reports, and post-placement services. This type of adoption can cost anywhere from $4,000 - $7,000* in agency fees. More
  • Independent Interstate Adoption is the same as an independent adoption with the addition of interstate regulations, due to the birthparent(s) and adoptive parents living in separate states. The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) is involved and the agency coordinates the needs of ICPC for each state in order to get the placement approved. This type of adoption can cost anywhere from $4,000 - $7,000* in agency fees. More
  • International Adoption is facilitated through liaison agencies or as an independent international adoption. Adoption Services will provide the necessary homestudy and post placement services. The total cost of this kind of adoption can range anywhere from $15,000 - $30,000*. We work with agencies that place from countries in Central and South America, Eastern Europe, India, Philippines, Thailand, China, and Korea. More
  • Relative Adoption occurs when you would like to adopt a child that is one of your relatives. This means the child would biologically be related to you as your grandchild, great-grandchild, sister, brother, niece, nephew, or cousin. Adoption Services can provide the birthparent services, adoptive homestudy, and court reports for this type of adoption. The expectant cost would be between $1,000 - $2,000* in agency fees. More
  • Step-Parent Adoption occurs when you would like to be the legal parent to your spouse's biological child. This requires relinquishment of the parental rights by the other biological parent, so the child is free for adoption. Adoption Services can provide the adoptive homestudy, and court reports. This type of adoption can cost between $500 - $2,000* in agency fees. More
  • Special Needs Adoption is the adoption of a child that has been in the foster care system for an extended period of time. The State of Wisconsin has a list of children that are waiting to be adopted. These children usually have special needs regarding mental or physical health, and require extra love, patience, and attention from their adoptive parents. Adoption Services can provide the adoptive homestudy, coordination with county services, court reports, and post placement services. This type of adoption can cost between $1,800 - $2,500*. More
